The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu has said that the pipeline fire which raged at Abule-Egba was put out by emergency agencies in the state two hours after they were informed.
He said they got the information by 8:30 pm about the fire, curtailed it by 9:00 pm and put it out by 11:30pm.
His words: “We can confirm that after several hours of intense fire fighting by the combined teams of Lagos Fire and other agencies , the fire at the above location was successfully put out. We were informed by 8.30pm by 9pm we have curtailed it and by 11.30pm we have put it off
“Having contained the area at 11.30pm .We have commenced an enumeration of the vehicles and properties that were involved this morning.
“We appeal to all to remain calm and to report suspicious activities to curtail the instances of these unfortunate incidents. In line with Mr Governor’s greater Lagos agenda, the government will do its part, while the citizens need to do their own part.
“We will continue to keep members of the public abreast with updates.”
