A day after a pipeline fire broke out in Abule-Egba, Lagos, a diesel tanker conveying 33,000 litres of diesel which fell at the Alaba-Rago area of the state, spilled its content and caught fire.
This incident happened on Monday on NEPA Road, and it caused panic among Lagosians in the area.
The Director- General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Oluwafemi Oke -Osanyintolu, commenting on the development, said, “ Upon the arrival of the LASEMA Response Team at the incident scene, it was observed that a tanker conveying approximately 33 ,000 litres of diesel had fallen on its side and was spilling its content.
“The LRT and men of the Lagos State Fire Services are carrying out suppression activities to curtail the spread of the fire . Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing. We appeal to members of the public to remain calm and obey the directives of the personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency and other agencies on the ground.”
