Nigerian Entertainers You Didn’t Know Had Higher Education

The Entertainment industry in Nigeria is often seen as a get-rich-quick avenue for every Dick and Harry to drink their share of milk and lick their portion of honey. This perception has made many young people to be desirous of quitting education and joining the fold.

While it is an open secret that the likes of Helen Paul and Funke Akindele are well educated, there are other entertainers whose public acts might not make people really know they have scaled academic heights.

One of them is the controversial singer, Naira Marley, who has been thought to be one person encouraging young people to drop out of school. It became known recently that he is a graduate with a degree in Business.

Below are the profiles of some Nigerian entertainers you probably didn’t know had good formal education

Naira Marley

Street-Hop artiste, Afeez Fashola, known popularly by his stage name, Naira Marley, is a graduate of the Peckham Academy in the United Kingdom where he bagged a distinction in Business. He also has a degree in Business Law which he attained from Christ the King Sixth Form College. The controversial act has been in the spotlight for allegedly being involved in internet fraud, car theft, and influencing youths negatively. His devout fans who call themselves ‘Marlians’, are known not to believe in wearing belts and pants. They are also known not to have regard for rules


Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike is a Nigerian rapper and producer. He studied Public Administration at the Institute of Management Technology in Enugu. The Igbo rapper’s career took off in his second year in the Institute when he began producing music. Over the years, he has won several awards and endorsements.

Craze Clown

Instagram sensation, 28-year-old Emmanuel Iwueke is a medical doctor who studied at Kharkiv National Medical University (Ukraine). The comedian is known for his skits where he acts as a father to a young boy (Ade), regularly slapping him to depict how Nigerian parents discipline their children. Both actors are medical doctors.


Tobechukwu Victor Okoh is a song artist known by his stage name – Peruzzi. The talented RnB act is credited with writing songs for Davido. Peruzzi studied Medicine and Surgery at Odessa National University, Ukraine. He recently shared pictures of himself in a scrub and facemask to show he is a qualified medical doctor.

Afeez Oyetoro (Saka)

Afeez Oyetoro is a Nigerian comic actor popularly referred to as Saka. The 56-year-old obtained his Bachelor and Master of Art degrees from the University of Ibadan, and is currently pursuing a doctorate. Saka is a lecturer at the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Lagos. He is famous for his illiterate acts on screen. Only few know about his academic qualifications.
