Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya has revealed the reason there was no Christian pilgrimage in 2019.
A N300m debt owed by the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board in Gombe State was the reason Christians failed to travel for last year’s pilgrimage.
The governor revealed this while receiving the State Christian community led by the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the State, Rev. Ibrahim Joda at the Government House.
He gave the assurance that Christians in the State would continue to attend pilgrimage during his administration.
He said, “As a Muslim, I was sworn in to lead the State with the fear of God and to be just to all manner of people regardless of religious differences.”
He thanked the Christian community for their visit and support to his administration and pledged his readiness to work with all stakeholders for the good of the State.
