Mixed reactions trailed the nullification of the election of Bayelsa state All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, David Lyon, as he prepares to be sworn-in on Friday.
The Supreme Court had disqualified Lyon’s deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo for presenting false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in aid of his qualification for the November 16 governorship election in State.
Degi-Eremienyo’s disqualification affected Lyon, whose victory was nullified by the apex court on Thursday.
The court ordered that fresh Certificates of Return should be issued to his opponent, Senator Douye Diri of the People’s Democratic Party.
Twitter users are expressing shock at the development due to the fact that Lyon was to be inaugurated in less than 24 hours.

The problem with with PDP winning Bayelsa ( in the supreme court)is that the party won't learn a serious lesson.
Bayelsa's defeat was meant to make PDP sit up
The supreme court happened
PDP hasn't learnt shit, they needed to lose
Sha expect APC to win more states in the SS/SE

The Supreme Court judgement against Lyon in Bayelsa expressly asked INEC to give the certificate of return to the next party with the highest vote and SPREAD. In Imo, they asserted that Hope had the SPREAD, but guess what? He didn’t! They SC clearly goofed in that Imo judgement.

What will they say about the Supreme Court now? Is the Nigerian judiciary dead or is it “the last hope of the common man”? 😂 https://t.co/Zo0pMWXoJR
