Edo State Police Debunks Report Of Road Barricade By Herdsmen
Tobi Adebayo
The Edo State police command has reacted to a viral video making rounds on social that herdsmen reportedly barricaded the Benin-Lagos highway near Ugbogui village to rob and kill travellers.
According to the man in the background of the videos, gun-wielding Fulani herdsmen blocked the road for several hours and had killed 10 travellers.
The man also said that the herdsmen dared any of the travellers to pass and get killed, adding that not even men of the police force could stop them.
Edo Police Spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor said the incident was a protest by some residents of Ugbogui community over the alleged killing of one of their son by herdsmen.

“The video that you talked about is a stale one. An incident actually happened in the community on Saturday that led to the people blocking the highway.
“The people alleged that Fulani herdsmen killed one of them and in protest, the people took the corpse to the highway and they all laid on the highway in protest.
“This is actually what happened on Saturday and not anywhere near what you are seeing online today,” Nwabuzor said.
