Following the involvement of Special Anti-Robbery Squads (SARS) officers in the circumstances that led to death of Remo Stars Football Club player, Tiamiyu Kazeem, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abubakar Adamu, has ordered that all SARS satellite offices should be shut down immediately.
Adamu gave this order barely 24 hours after residents of Ogun State protested the death of Tiamiyu which later led to a faceoff between the Police and the Youths.
Adamu made this known when he accompanied the State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, to pay a condolence visit to home of the deceased soccer star in Shagamu on Tuesday.
Represented by Deputy Inspector General of Police, in-charge of Research and Planning, Peter Ogunyanwo, the IGP added that all activities at the satellite offices should be handed over to Commissioners of Police in the state.
He assured that everyone involved in the unfortunate killing of the late footballer, popularly called, Kaka, would be prosecuted.
Speaking, Abiodun, described Kaka as “a man of unexplored talents” and added that the men of SARS who were involved in his death were carrying out an illegal duty.
