The Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted a former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisah Metuh, of the first of the seven counts he was charged with.
Metuh alongside his firm, Destra Investments Limited, was found guily of his first count charge by Justice Okon Abang, who ruled that former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, illegally transferred the sum of N400 million to the defendants
Delivering the judgement, Justice Abang described the action as a breach of public trust.
“Contrary to the argument, “the predicate offence and the money laundering offence are intertwined,” the judge dismissed the contention of the defence that Dasuki had not been found guilty of the offence of breach of trust and corruption.
“The success or failure of the predicate offence does not determine the success or failures of the money laundering offence,” he added.
