Supreme Court To David Lyon: Your Application Is Vexatious And Frivolous

The Supreme Court on Wednesday described the applications of the All Progressives Congress and its governorship candidate in Bayelsa, David Lyon, to review its judgment on the Bayelsa governorship election, as vexatious and frivolous. The apex court also said the applications constituted a gross abuse of the court process.
The Supreme Court had on February 13, 2020 overturned the election of Lyon a day to his inauguration.
Reading the lead judgement, Justice Amina Augie said the applications were tantamount to asking the Supreme Court to sit in appeal on its earlier judgment.

She said to do that amounted to a violation of the Constitution.
“There must be an end to litigation. The decision of the Supreme Court is final for ages in a matter and only legislation could change it,” she said.
The Supreme Court awarded the costs of N 10m against Lyon ’s counsel Chief Afe Babalola ( SAN ) , and APC ’ s lawyer , Chief Wole Olanipekun ( SAN ). She ordered the costs to be paid to each of the counsels of the Peoples Democratic Party, Governor Duoye Diri , and the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State , Lawrence Ewhruojakpo, who were the respondents in the matter.
