Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday said the state government had invited other State Governors and Commissioners for Health in Nigeria to update them on the progress made to contain the deadly coronavirus.
Sanwo-Olu made this known during a visit to the Mainland Hospital where the state’s first index case, an Italian man, is being quarantined alongside other identified contacts.
The Governor thanked the medical practitioners at the quarantine centre for their sacrifice and hardwork in ensuring the containment of the virus.
“It is a virus that we have never seen before. We are learning new things about it daily. I want to thank the medical practitioners for their time l, dedication and intellectual contribution to the containment of this virus.
“We have invited some Governors and Commissioners for health across Nigeria, alongside medical practitioners to come and see the progress we have made so far on containing the virus and to liaise with them on how to scale up quarantine centres like this in their states.
“We are also inviting road transport unions and other stakeholders as we cannot afford to leave anyone in the dark. They have to be well informed about measures to take so as to help in the containment of this deadly disease,” he said.
