The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has said that the inconsistent power supply in the country is a major challenge to the deployment of a 5G network.

According to the NCC, the extensive fibre infrastructure deployment at the last-mile is a major facilitator of the deployment of 5G.

Director, Technical Standards and Network Integrity, NCC, Bako Wakil, disclosed this at the just concluded Social Media Week.

Wakil, while speaking on the importance of 5G, said there were better communication possibilities and made known that 5G would allow the extremely accurate and near-instantaneous transfer of large quantities of data.

He also added that 5G technologies would ensure a better experience of virtual realities, driverless cars, drone operations and the Internet of Things.
