39.55% Of Sexual Violence Cases From South-East –NHRC

National Human Rights Commission on Monday revealed that South-East Nigeria recorded the most complaints of Sexual and Gender Based Violence

The Executive Secretary, NHRC, Mr Tony Ojukwu made the revealation at the South-South zone public sitting of the panel in Benin and said the commission received a total of 113 complaints and memorandums from the six geopolitical zones.

He said, “This panel and the commission will adhere to the principles of fair hearing in discharging their functions and will not stand idle and watch while the fundamental human rights of citizens are being trampled upon and violated by the law enforcement agencies, entities or individuals.”

The complaints received are as follows; 35 from the South-East, 19 from North-Central, 17 from North-West, 26 from South-South, 12 from South-West, four (4) from North-East.
