Coronavirus Delaying Lagos-Ibadan Rail Project — Amaechi
Tobi Adebayo
Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Thursday said that the ongoing Lagos-Ibadan railway project has been put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Amaechi disclosed this during a live television programme on African Independent Television.
The minister said that the project would have been completed but the Chinese handlers were still in China on the orders of the country’s government.
“If not for coronavirus we would have finished the Lagos-Ibadan rail, although the project is nearly completed. The employees of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation are still in their country,” Amaechi said.
The deadly coronavirus outbreak was first recorded in the Chinese city of Wuhan and the country has recorded thousands of deaths.
