The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad on Friday described Justice Monica Dongban-Mesem as a seasoned judge and expressed confidence in her abilities.
The CJN made this known during the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Dongban-Mesem as the Acting President of the Court of Appeal, which held at the ceremonial court of the Supreme Court in Abuja.
Mohammed said, “She knows the work very well and she has been doing her job satisfactorily well. It was her working hard that has enticed both the Court of Appeal and the National Judicial Council to uplift her to the position of the President of the Court of Appeal.”
“Always consult with your colleagues and pay visits to the court’s divisions in the various parts of the country to be equipped with information about what happens in those places.”
Justice Dongban-Mesem took over from Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, who attained the mandatory retirement age of 70 on Friday.
