Coronavirus: LUTH Denies Running Tests For N1.2m

The Lagos University Teaching Hopsital has denied unfounded claims that coronavirus tests are being run at the rate of N1.2m

The hospital cleared the air via its official Twitter handled and said tests for the deadly virus are run for free.

Responding to a Twitter user who asked if the rumours were true, LUTH tweeted: “The test is free in LUTH. However, it has to be at the request of the Consultant in charge of Infectious Disease Unit of LUTH.”

The rumour started with a Twitter user, @coolfrancess, who claimed the teaching hospital asked a relative to pay the sum of N1.2m to get tested for coronavirus.

She tweeted: “My dad’s cousin went to luth to get tested for corona virus Nd they told him he had to pay 1.2million naira ..lol..we are not ready.”

Other Twitter users have condemned the rumormonger and reported her account for speaking fake news.
