President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday, ordered the payment of stipends to vulnerable citizens across the country.
The President made this known during a live transmission to Nigerians on Sunday evening.
He said the two-month stipends was to help the vulnerable people in buying basic needs during the self-isolation period.
“For the most vulnerable in our society, I have directed that the conditional cash transfers for the next two months be paid immediately.”
He also said the internally displaced persons (IDP) camps will be provided with two months food rations.
“Our Internally displaced persons will also receive two months of food rations in the coming weeks.”
President Buhari further called on Nigerians to take responsibility of supporting the vulnerable in their communities.
“We also call on all Nigerians to take personal responsibility to support those who are vulnerable within their communities, helping them with whatever they may need.”
There have been 97 confirmed cases and one death in the country since the index case on February 27.
