Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde has tested positive for coronavirus.
The governor made this known in a tweet on his official twitter account on Monday.
“I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate.
“I have designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, as the Head of COVID-19 Task Force while I recover fully.
“Please continue to comply with all the directives from the COVID-19 Task Force. Stay home, stay safe,” he tweeted.

The governor had on Friday, March 27, gone on self-isolation on advice by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to governors who attended the last National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
In a live tweet chat monitored by News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Ibadan on Saturday, Makinde said that governors who attended the NEC meeting came in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case.
“We were all advised to self-isolate and go for test. I have been in self-isolation since then.” he tweeted.
