Social media users have reacted to the significant increase in the number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease in Osun state.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday announced that 12 new cases had been confirmed; 9 in Osun, 2 in Edo state and 1 in Ekiti state.
However, Twitter users have asked pertinent questions as to how the cases in Osun state spiked up to 9, making a total of 14 cases.
A Twitter user, @__opeyemi claimed that about a hundred returnees from Ivory Coast might be the reason for the increase in confirmed cases in the state.
She wrote: “More cases to be released in Osun state. More than 100 suspected cases. They’re returnees from Cote d’Ivoire. Thank God they self isolate them immediately they get to Ejigbo”
Another Twitter user, @penknight2 wrote: “9 new cases in Osun? Like how come?? Osun is not an entry point, not an industrial hub, how exactly are we getting that high number? Eh God Osun is too broke to handle this storm”.

Returnees from some wear African countries caused the spike in Osun. We thank God they were Quarantined on arrival. Hopefully they would be fine.
