The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has appealed to security agencies to allow petroleum product tanker drivers to operate freely within the nation.
The Corporation made the appeal in a statement signed by its spokesman, Dr Jennie Obatero, in Abuja, on Tuesday.
Obateru said he President exempted some from the restriction which included the operations of petroleum products tanker drivers.
He emphasized that the Federal Government was banking on the support of the law enforcement agencies nationwide to ensure smooth distribution of petroleum products throughout the country during the period of the restriction.
The spokesperson stated that NNPC had over 2.6 billion litres of petrol; enough to last the period of the lockdown and beyond. He urged motorists not to engage in panic buying.
