Nollywood actress and physiotherapist, Jemima Osunde has condemned the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) over the burial of late Chief of Staff (COS), Abba Kyari who died from COVID-19 complications.

Osunde, in a tweet, alleged that the body of the late COS was released to the family of the deceased by the NCDC

Kyari was buried on Saturday at Guda Cemetery in Abuja, with more than 50 sympathisers in attendance.

Reacting to a clip from the site of the burial, Osunde tweeted: “Never seen a bigger bunch of dimwits in my life. First of all, @NCDCgov WHY DID YOU RELEASE HIS BODY???? Did you release the other 16 people that died to their families? Shouldn’t he have been cremated? And then what is this damn crowd ?? What is wrong with you people?!!!”

Minister for Information, Lai Mohammed had earlier said bodies of dead COVID-19 patients would not be released to their families as they could get infected from the active virus in the corpses.

Facts check by An24.net revealed that the NCDC did not release the corpse of the late COS to the family, contrary to the actress’ outburst.

The burial exercise was monitored by the agency to prevent the attendees from having any form of contact with the body which still had the deadly virus active in it.
