Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State on Tuesday ordered the closure of a private hospital where the two cases of coronavirus patients were receiving medical treatment.
The cases were being treated at the undisclosed hospital before they were referred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia.
Ikpeazu while addressing reporters in Umuahia, said that all the medical staffers and patients on admission at the private hospital would remain quarantined until the result of their samples returns back from the NCDC.
He said the two cases were in their 70s, adding that they had underlying medical ailment ranging from high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, and heart failure.
The Governor also said that the state has started contact tracing of all persons who had contact with the cases in Ikwuano, Ukwa West, and Umuahia North Local Government Areas of the state.
Ikpeazu insisted that the sit-at-home order and border closure in the state remains intact.
