Ramadan: Sultan Announces Friday As Commencement Date

President of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has announced that Ramadan will start on Friday, April 24.
The monarch confirmed that the new moon was sighted on Thursday.
He urged the muslim faithfuls to pray in their homes in order to curtail the spread of the coronavirus disease in the state.

Sokoto State Govenor, Aminu Tambuwal had earlier placed a ban on public preachings and voluntary night vigils throughout the duration of the fasting exercise.
