Two Men Arrested For Robbery In Ogun

The men of the Ogun State Police have arrested two armed robbery suspects in the state.

The suspects, Evans Iyam and Adedayo Taiwo were arrested while on robbery escapade at Damsalam Street in Ajuwon area of the state on 16th of May 2020.

A statement by the PPRO Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi on Tuesday said the duo were arrested following a distress call received by the police in Ajuwon division that a three man robbery gang had stormed the street and were shooting sporadically.

The statement added that the DPO Ajuwon division, Andrew Akinseye quickly mobilised his anti-robbery team and moved to the scene.

On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums took to their heels but were hotly chased by members of the community and two members of the gang who came on a motorcycle were apprehended while the third one escaped with their motorcycle.

Locally made short gun was recovered from them.

The suspects confessed to have come from ishasi in Lagos State for the robbery.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the special anti robbery squads, SARS for discreet investigation.

He equally directed a serious manhunt for the fleeing member of the gang with the view to bringing him to justice within the shortest possible time.
