The revised 2020 budget submitted by President Muhammad Buhari to the National Assembly and approved on Tuesday sparked outrage on social media following reports that there were significant reductions in the budget for health and education while the renovation of the National Assembly retained a whooping N27 billion.

According to the news reports, the federal government, cut only N9.3bn from N37bn budget for the renovation of the National Assembly complex.

Data obtained from Dataphyte showed that the figure published was erroneous figure as the proposed amount on the 2020 revised budget for the renovation of the National Assembly was reduced by 75% to N9.3 billion.

Checks on the document obtained by An24.net also revealed that the N27 billion was tagged the “Project Adjustment Amount” on the revised budget, representing the cut from the initial vote of N37 billion for the renovation project.
