There was confusion on social media as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced the arrest of a social media influencer, Adedamola Adewale a.k.a Adeherself and four others for alleged internet-related fraud.
The commission, via its official Twitter handle on Tuesday said it arrested Adedamola, alongside Lamina Hamzat Ajibola at the Agungi area of Lagos.
However, confusion set in as EFCC used the pronoun “He” to address Adeherself, who is a female.
The confusing paragraph read: “Intelligence also linked them with alleged flamboyant lifestyles.
“During interrogation, Adewale, a self-acclaimed model, who goes by the username @adeherself on Instagram, confessed to being a picker” in cyber crimes. He usually poses as a lady to hoodwink her foreign “preys”.
The statement had Twitter users asking for the real identity of Adeherself as the tweet led most to believe that the skit maker is Lamina Hamzat Ajibola.

Is EFCC saying Adeherself is not Adeherself but Adehimself but goes to pick money as Adeherself ? pic.twitter.com/wKPAueFWGq

Apparently EFCC didn’t make a mistake.
They said adeherself is actually adehimself, using the face of adeherself to scam clients.
So Adehimself runs the account, but adeherself is the face of the account.
Plot twist her name is not Ade, it’s lamina

For anyone who's still confused on #Adeherself and EFCC story… imo, Adeherself is that face behind the account while the guy operates the account for fraud.
No doubts, the skit maker is involved in the saga as she already told EFCC she's a picker pic.twitter.com/c3o6bZDXS7
