The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has lost one of its top staff, Dr. J.J Shalanga to the coronavirus disease.
The medical doctor who was posted to Zamfara as State Supervisor three months ago died of COVID-19 complications on Sunday.
The Zamfara State Commissioner for Health, Yahaya Kanoma, had confirmed that the official fell ill.
He was reportedly rushed to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau, but died before arrival.
Kanoma said that his samples when tested showed he died of COVID-19.
Shalanga will be buried in Plateau State.
