Abductors Demand N20m For Release Of Retired US Army Officer

Father of the five-day-old male child abducted by two gunmen on April 11 at Ijagbe community in Kogi State, Mr Tosin Ojuola, has been banished from the community.

Kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N20million from the family of a retired United States of America Army officer, Major Jide Ijadare.

A family member of Ijadare disclosed to journalists that the abductors had contacted one of them on Wednesday morning and demanded for N20million for his release.

Ijadare and one other person were abducted at a palm oil factory belonging to him along Ijan Ekiti–Ise Ekiti Road in Ijan Ekiti in the Gbonyin Council area of Ekiti State on Tuesday

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti Command, Mr Sunday Ebutu said the command was not aware of any ransom being demanded by the abductors.

He however said that security operatives were
combing everywhere to rescue Ijadare and other victims.

“The Commissioner of Police, Mr Babatunde Mobayo, has deployed different units of police operatives in the factory and the surrounding forests,” Abutu said.
