Edo Decides: Saraki Urges Voters To Protect Their Votes

The 8th Nigerian Senate Assembly inaugurated on June 9, 2015, today came to an end as its valedictory session was held paving way for the inauguration of the 9th National Assembly.

Former Senate president, Bukola Saraki has urged the people of Edo State to protect their votes.

An24.net earlier reported that the election which has as its key contenders incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki of the PDP and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the APC had witnessed impressive voters turnout.

Saraki in a statement on his Twitter handle noted that the election had gotten to a crucial stage and the people must not be carried away

He wrote : “The on-going #EdoDecides2020 is getting to the crucial stages. I urge the good people of Edo State not to get carried away but to protect their votes.

“The enthusiasm and patriotic conduct of the good people of Edo State must not be thwarted or subverted by any Independent National Electoral Commison (INEC) offical either permanent or ad-hoc; or any security personnel, no matter the rank.

“Nigeria’s glory is more important than the huge ego of politicians. And so @inecnigeria and security officials must work to protect Nigeria’s image and not to satisfy the whims and caprices of some power hungry politicians.”
