Insecurity: Northern Governors Hold Emergency Meeting

Father of the five-day-old male child abducted by two gunmen on April 11 at Ijagbe community in Kogi State, Mr Tosin Ojuola, has been banished from the community.

Governors from the 19 Northern States held an emergency meeting on Thursday over the level of insecurity in the states.

The meeting held at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna State.

Attendees include; Governors Simon Lalong of Plateau, Aminu Waziri Tambuwwal of Sokoto, Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara, AbdulRahman AbdulRazak of Kwara, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Sani Bello of Niger, Babagana Zulum of Borno and Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State.

Others include Deputy Governors from Kogi, Kano, Katsina, Bauchi and Kaduna States.

Youths from the region had also taken to the streets like their counterparts in the South to protest the constant killings by bandits and the Boko Haram sect.

Hashtags like #SecureNorth, #EndInsecurityNow, #SecureArewa have been trending on social media to draw attention of the authorities to the killings.
