Strike: FG, ASUU Meet Again For Negotiation

Following recent abduction of one of its member, Prof Yinka Adegbehingbe by Fulani herdsmen, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Obafemi Awolowo University branch, on Thursday called on the Inspector General of Police and Osun State Police Commissioner to address the rising incidence of kidnapping in the country or risk industrial action by lecturers.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities and Federal Government on Tuesday held a meeting in order to resume their negotiation over the ongoing strike embarked upon by the union.

The two parties converged for a new meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.

The Federal Government team was led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, while the President of the Association Prof.Biodun Ogunyemi led the lecturers team.

The two parties had met last Thursday for over five hours but the resolutions of the situation was not made public.

However, the President of the association, Prof. Biodun during the meeting said that the outcome of the meeting will be made known to the public on Wednesday.
