Two Killed As Bandits, Vigilantes Clash In Kaduna

Two persons have been killed as bandits attacked Gidan Maikudi village, a herders’ settlement in Kerawa ward of the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The bandits invaded the village to kidnap a resident and were forced to beat a retreat after vigilantes engaged them in a gun duel.

The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on Thursday said two brothers, Maikudi Husaini and Nafiu Husaini were killed in the gun battle.

The Commissioner said, “According to the report, local vigilantes mobilized to repel the bandit attack, and in the ensuing gunfight, overwhelmed the bandits who withdrew with several casualties.

“However one resident, Alhaji Maikudu Husaini, was shot dead during the skirmish. His brother, Nafiu Husaini, also succumbed to gunshot wounds as he was rushed to hospital.

“Security agencies will sustain patrols in the general area.”
