El-Zakzaky’s Wife Never Tested Positive For COVID-19 – NCoS

The Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, has said that the wife of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, Zeenat, never tested positive for the ravaging coronavirus disease.

The NCoS spokesman, Francis Enobore made this known in a statement in Abuja on Monday.

Zeenat El-Zakzaky was said to have contracted the infection while in custody prompting the court to order her evacuation to an isolation centre, although the order was later reversed following her recovery.

However, the Correctional Service insisted on conducting another COVID-19 test on her after her recovery in collaboration with the Kaduna State government, her personal physician and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.

The statement read, “Happily, the test result has been released and the inmate, including her contacts have no trace of COVID-19 virus. It is important to state with emphasis that Zeenat El-Zakzaky never contracted COVID-19 infection as was alleged.”

It said the acting Controller-General of Corrections, John Mrabure, expressed his deep appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation in obeying the restriction guidelines to custodial centres.

He assured the public that the service would continue to observe the COVID-19 protocols and strengthen her effort to prevent the virus from getting into any custodial centre.
