Lagos Youth Group Launches #DefendLagos Against #OccupyLekkiTollGate Protest
Ganiyat Ganiyu
Youths from Lagos State have launched #DefendLagos hashtag to kick against the planned Saturday, February 13, #OccupyLekkiTollGate protest against the reopening of the Lekki Toll-Gate.
The Lagos judicial panel investigating the alleged shootings of EndSARS protesters had on Saturday approved the reopening of the Lekki tollgate after four months of shutting it down.
The nine-man panel resolved that the control of the tollgate to go back to the Lekki Concession Company, LCC, as a consequence of an application made to the panel to allow it to take over the plaza for repair and insurance claims.
After the news went viral, aggrieved youths insisted that the Toll-gate should not be opened as justice had not been served for those who lost their lives during the peaceful #EndSARS protest.

However, reacting to the trend, concerned youths in Lagos warned irate youths from embarking on the #OccupyLekkiTollGate, as the state was still recovering from the level of destruction and criminality that occurred during the #EndSARS protest in October 2020.
