The Senate has referred the petition against the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) Danladi Umar over alleged assault on a guard, Clement Sagwak, at Banex Plaza, Wuse 2, Abuja, to its Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, on Tuesday.

Umar was caught in a viral video clip slapping and kicking the security guard following an altercation between them over the space where the CCT chairman parked his car on the premises of the plaza.

President, Ahmad Lawan, gave the order after the Senator representing Plateau North, Istifanus Gyang, laid a petition before the Senate on behalf of the victim, Clement Sargwak.Senate,

The victim said that the CCT boss slapped him severally and forced him to kneel down in the presence of everybody while undergoing his lawful activities.

He, therefore, asked the Senate to ensure justice was done on his case.

The Senate President asked the Chairman of the Ethics panel, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, to investigate the matter and report back to the Senate within four weeks.
