The Oduduwa Republic, a political group seeking the secession of the ethnic-Yoruba people from Nigeria on Saturday held a rally in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.
The members are seeking independence of predominantly ethnic-Yoruba states in Nigeria’s southwest.
The scheduled meeting point which was the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo was reportedly sealed by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
The protesters later regrouped under November 27 Bridge along Osogbo/Gbongan Road, Osogbo.
