Four Suspected Armed Robbers Hijack Trailer In Ogun

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended four members of an armed robbery gang, who hijacked a trailer loaded with golden penny flour along the Shagamu-Ijebu Ode Expressway on April 16.

The suspects; Eze Anthony Sopruchuckwu, 34, Eze Chijoke Edeh, 29, Olalekan Ayodele Muritala, 44, and Samuel Johnson, 32, were arrested following a report lodged at Ikenne divisional headquarters, that a trailer, with registration number ANG 57 LG, loaded with 600 bags of Golden Penny flour and driven by one Ahmed Tiamiyu was hijacked along the expressway, while the driver and his motor boy were taken to the bush, where their hands were tied to their backs and their mouths cello taped.

A statement by the Command’s PPRO, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that they were arrested on the 5th of May 2021.

Oyeyemi said the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, directed that the case be transferred to Special Enquiry Bureau at state headquarters Eleweran for discreet investigation.

It read, “The DSP Ade Akiti led squad, swung into action and embarked on technical and intelligence based investigation.

“Their efforts paid off when one of the suspects was traced to Ikorodu in Lagos State and promptly arrested.

“His arrest led to the arrest of three others, while 175 bags of Golden Penny flours were recovered from the warehouse of the gang leader, Eze Anthony.

“The Commissioner, who commended the painstaking investigation done by the team, had ordered that the remaining members of the gang be hunted for and brought to book.”
