Aisha Buhari Deactivates Twitter Account

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, on Friday night, deactivated her Twitter account hours after the Federal Government announced the suspension of the micro-blogging site.

She made the announcement in a tweet shortly before the deactivation.

She tweeted, “I will be deactivating my Twitter account for now. Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The Federal Government had on Friday through the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, suspended, indefinitely, the operations of Twitter, in Nigeria.

Lai Mohammed cited the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.
