Gunmen Attack Kogi Correctional Centre, Free Inmates

Unknown gunmen on Monday attacked the Kabba Correctional Centre, Kogi.
Two soldiers were reportedly killed in the incident and several others injured.
The soldiers were said to have mounted routine checkpoint about 50 metres before the correctional centre along the Lokoja-Okebukun-Kabba highway when the gunmen opened fire on them before attacking the correctional centre.

No fewer than 100 inmates were said to have been freed during the attack on the facility.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 8, Ayuba Edeh, who confirmed the incident said the Commissioner of Police and other heads of security agencies have swung into action for an assessment of the cause of the situation.
