114 Fleeing Kogi Inmates Re-arrested
At least 114 inmates, who escaped from the Kabba Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kogi State have been re-arrested.
The Spokesman for the Nigerian Correctional Service, Francis Enobore, made this known in a statement on Wednesday.
He said those rearrested were from the 240 inmates who escaped during an attack on the facility on Sunday.
He said the inmates were rearrested following the swift intervention of the Controller General of custodial centres, Haliru Nababa.

“The CG, who personally led a team to the Custodial Centre for on-the-spot assessment, directed an immediate Search Party Response Team to go after the escapees even as security has been beefed up through the deployment of additional armed squad personnel to fortify the facility,” he added.
Nababa also commended the collaboration and support extended to the Service by sister security agencies, including Vigilante groups for assisting in re-arresting fleeing inmates.
He advised the escapees to turn in themselves within 24 hours or risk prosecution if arrested.
He noted that it would be of no use for them to keep hiding since their photographs and biometrics have been captured and are intact.
While assuring the general public of their safety, the Controller-General stated that no efforts would be spared in smoking out the escapees.
