Man Allegedly Hacks Woman Friend’s Lover To Death

A 25-year-old man, Bisi Omoniyi, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun state police command for allegedly killing a 50-year-old man he met at his woman friend’s house.

The suspect was arrested on October 15, 2021, following a distress call received by the police in Owode Egbado divisional headquarters, that a young man had hacked the deceased to death in Ajilete town.

A statement by the command’s PRO, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said upon the distress call, the DPO Owode Egbado, Olabisi Elebute, mobilised the divisional patrol team to the scene where the suspect was arrested, and the victim was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

The statement said that the preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, Akinyemi Wahab Alani, had planned to pass the night at his woman friend, Kafayat Sakariyau’s apartment when the suspect, who also intended to pass the night with Kafayat came knocking but was denied entry.

“The suspect who came from the Ibasa area of Oke Odan forced his way into the woman’s room and met the victim in a position he described as unacceptable.

“Consequently, a fight ensued between them and the suspect picked a cutlass in the room and hacked the victim to death,” the statement said in part.

Oyeyemi said that the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at the general hospital mortuary for autopsy, while the location of the woman was still unknown.

He added the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
