The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, has ordered that the release of a female soldier, Hannah Sofiat who was detained for accepting a proposal.
Sofiat was detained by the Army for accepting a marriage proposal from a youths corps member at the Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Kwara State.
According to The PUNCH, a military source confirmed that the Chief of Army staff had in the spirit of Christmas intervened and ordered she be pardoned.
The PUNCH further reports that the source said that the female Sofiat had been warned and reprimanded for breaching the extant rule guiding the conduct of military personnel.
He added that the soldier had been forgiven and freed from detention to join her family and friends to celebrate Christmas.
