STRIKE: We Have Met All Your Demands – FG Replies ASUU

The Federal Government on Monday has said that it has met all the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

Reacting to the eight weeks extension by the union, the government expressed shock, saying that the decision was not based on the inefficiency of the government as ASUU claimed.

Speaking to newsmen at the end of the commemoration of the 2022 Commonwealth Celebration in Abuja the Minister of State for Education, Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba claimed that the FG has released all earned allowances, as well as the revitalisation funds demanded.

“ASUU announced and we met and everything that they have demanded, we have done all of them including the earned allowances and the revitalisation fund; they choose to extend it for two months maybe,” he said.

Earlier AN24 had reported that ASUU on Monday extended the strike by eight weeks, saying it took the decision because the Federal Government failed to address the issues it raised in a 2020 FGN/ASUU agreement.
