Nnewi South Local Government Area in Anambra State has been attacked by a gang of armed men on Thursday morning.
The gunmen set the secretariat on fire but the number of casualty is yet to be ascertained as of press time.
According to the spokesman of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the information is still sketchy, “It is a suspected case of arson”.
The spokesman added that more operatives had been deployed to the area and Fire Service was contacted.
The burning is suspected to have been carried out by the Indigenous People of Biafra.
The spokesman said he has not ascertained the number of casualties yet.
He said operatives had been deployed to the area while men of the State Fire Service were were already on ground to quench the fire.
Tochukwu further said Anambra Commissioner of Police had gone to the scene to assess things for himself.
