Suspended General Manager of Lagos State Building Control Agency, Gbolahan Oki, has been reinstated after he was cleared by a panel constituted to dig into the Ikoyi 21-storey building collapse that claimed several lives.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu immediately set up an independent six-man tribunal to investigate the unfortunate incident that occurred on 1st November, 2021.
Members of the panel were drawn from the Nigeria Institute of Architects, Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Nigeria Society of Engineers and other professional bodies.
According to the report to Sanwo-Olu, the collapse of the building was as a result of the erosion of professional ethics and due diligence.

The governor and his cabinet members afterwards agreed that the suspended general manager was innocent of the incident as indicated in the white paper.
Several seatings were held to determine Oki’s involvement before the building collapsed incident and he had appeared before several panels including Personnel Management Board.
The tribunal visited the project site for a general assessment; coordinated activities of the consultants who conducted tests on the site; received and reviewed documents from relevant MDAs; conducted 35 interview sessions; interrogated 91 persons; requested and received a total of 21 memoranda; and accessed the home of the late C.E.O. of Fourscore Heights Limited, Mr. Olufemi Osibona, with a view to gathering relevant information to support the tribunal’s fact-finding mission.
