The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Saturday said a United Nigeria is his dream and therefore assured Nigerians, especially the youth violence and banditry free Nigeria if elected the next President of the country.

Asiwaju Tinubu made the promise on Saturday during the “Progressives Youth of South-West declares Asiwaju for President 2023” organised by the South-West youths to endorse his APC Progressive Youth South-West at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.

Tinubu who expressed gratitude for the support by the youths urged everyone to have the ‘You can do attitude’. He also implored Nigerians, especially the youth to go and register and revalidate their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for them to be able to vote rightly in forthcoming elections.

During the carnival-like rally, thousands of youths and groups from the six states in South-West – Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti, unanimously endorsed Tinubu for the 2023 presidency and called on all Nigerians to work for his victory in the 2023 polls.

The youth, who spoke through different leaders during the rally attended by Asiwaju Tinubu, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu; his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, members of National Assembly and Lagos State House of Assembly, council chairmen, APC chieftain, among others, assured Nigerians that Tinubu will take Nigeria to a great height if he becomes President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.

The Mobolaji Johnson Arena was full to the brim as APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel and party’s youth leaders in South-West, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS) and youth leaders from all the ethnic groups – Ndigbo, South-South, Arewa and North-Central publicly expressed their supports for Tinubu.

The APC National Leader candidature was also endorsed by Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and members of the National Assembly, House of Assembly and chairmen of local governments who are youths in South-West.

Speaking during the event, Tinubu said Lagos is one of the most progressive states in Nigeria and that the development he did when he was Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to2007 can be replicated in Nigeria as a country if elected to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, 2023.

He said: “All you need is courage and determination, perseverance. If YouTube alone had 2.9billion people following it including you standing here, then Nigeria can excel; you can do it. You must develop a can-do attitude. You must have the determination that this country is yours and you want to change the story. You must change the story of banditry. You must change the story of tribalism. Poverty has no tribal marks.

“We as a nation, we can feed ourselves. Anybody who says we cannot, he may get out. It is voluntary. We can definitely feed ourselves by being creative, visionary and committed. We cannot continue the lamentation of the past. We cannot continue excuses for NEPA failure. No nation can make rapid development without electricity. We have enough gas to fire up our electricity. We can supply the rest of Europe with gas and we can make money long-term from it.

“A united Nigeria is our dream. A free Nigeria is our commitment; a violence-free Nigeria and a banditry-free Nigeria. A successful Nigeria we promise you. We promise you, we will hand it over to you. You are our tomorrow and today we are building. You are the future and the reason why I am here. I want to be President for you (youths). Drive me there. Commit yourselves; enough of excuses, bitterness and disunity. All we have to do is to be a United Nigeria of Africa. Hunger has no tribal marks, poverty no tribal marks, money in the bank, no tribal mark.”

In his address, Governor Sanwo-Olu who appreciated the grand support for Asiwaju Tinubu noted that youths will continue to be identified as critical stakeholders, just as he enjoined all delegates to the APC primary to exercise their franchise wisely by voting for Tinubu.

“I want to thank all of you for trooping out here in large numbers from the entire South-West of our country to do the official endorsement of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I want to assure you that this is the man that would ensure that the youths stand beside him. He will ensure that the youth has a space in his government and the youth would not be forgotten,” he said.

In his opening remarks at the event, APC Youth Leader in Lagos State, Dr. Muritala Seriki, said the youth believe that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu can take the Nation to a greater height.

He said they are rooting for Asiwaju Tinubu as the next President of Nigeria based on his antecedents as former Governor of Lagos State and being a detribalised Nigerian.
