APC NEC In Crucial Meeting For 2023 Presidency, Party’s Timetable For Primaries
The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced its meeting scheduled for today, Wednesday.
The NEC meeting kicked-off shortly after the arrival of President Muhammadu Buhari, who arrived at the venue 10:02am. Prior to his arrival, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, APC governors and other members of the party’s National Executive Council arrived earlier.
The meeting is holding at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.
The security at the venue of the meeting is water-tight with the presence of security personnel within the hotel premises.
AN24 gathered that the APC NEC meeting will address issues relating to the 2023 presidential election and the party’s timetable for conduct of primary elections for House of Assembly, National Assembly, governorship and presidential candidates of the ruling party.
It would be recalled that governors elected on the platform of APC during a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday after Iftar Dinner with the President, rejected the idea of a consensus candidate for picking the party’s candidates for the 2023 general elections.
They opted for the option of an indirect form of primaries for election of APC presidential candidate, which is in line with the party’s constitution, as against the consensus options being pushed from some quarters.
