NAF Fighter Jet Killed Six Children – Niger Government

The Secretary to the Niger State Government, Ibrahim Matane has accused the Nigerian Air Force of killing six children and bombing houses during the raid on terrorists in the Kurebe community, Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.

The deadly strikes occurred on April 13, killing residents and destroying properties.

The Punch reports that when asked if six children were killed by a NAF fighter jet, Matane replied, “Yes, it occurred, the government is looking into the incident and an investigation is ongoing to ascertain what happened.”

Speaking on the development, the chairperson Coalition of Shiroro Associations, Salis Sambo, the children got killed when the fighter jets tried to bomb some terrorists who ran into the community for safety.

“Six children were bombed to pieces by explosion from fighter jet belonging to Nigerian Air Force in Kurebe, Shiroro Local Government of Niger State. The incident happened on Wednesday the 13th of April, 2020, in the morning when the children were coming back to fetch water from a motorized borehole within Kurebe community.

“It was the terrorists that they were targeting. That week, there were about four airstrikes carried out in Shiroro and scores of terrorists were killed. The terrorists ran into the community to take refuge and when the explosives were shelled, it affected the children. It wasn’t deliberate,” he said.

Sambo said that a man lost two of his daughters and two granddaughters in the incident.
