15-Year-Old WASSCE Candidate Died, 49 Shops Burnt In Ajegunle Tanker Explosion

A 15-year-old West African Senior School Certificate Examination(WASSCE) candidate, Oluwatobi Lawal, has died in the Ajegunle tanker explosion. 
AN24 who was at the scene of the event gathered from multiple sources that Tobi, who is preparing to write WASSCE next month died as a result of burnt injury during the explosion.
Forty-nine make-shift shops were also burnt as traders lost goods worth millions of naira during the fire incident that started at 2:06 am
There was shedding of tears and a sorrowful mood from victims of the fire incident, especially the mother of the deceased, who cried profusely while her son’s corpse was been taken to the morgue by officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
Speaking to AN24, the Lagos State Coordinator of NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, said only one person died during the ugly incident because the explosion happened during midnight.
He said the fire was put under control by the combined efforts of Lagos and Ogun states fire services.
They were also assisted by other federal and state agencies.
Some of the owners of the shops burnt during the fire incident while speaking to AN24 said they lost goods worth millions of naira and appealed to the government to come to their rescue.
