One Feared Dead, Three Vehicles Burnt In Abeokuta Expressway Tanker Explosion – LSFS

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed the death of one person in the tanker explosion that occurred in the early hours of Friday at Ajegunle Bus-Stop, Alagbado, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The Director of the service, Adeseye Margaret, in a statement on Friday, said the situation has been brought under control by the combined effort of Agege, Ikeja and Alausa Fire Crews.

She also added that three cars and some makeshift shops were burnt in the outbreak that was caused by a tanker carrying 45,000 liters of PMS contents which lost balance while trying to make a bend to Ayinde Oil Filling Station, the destination of the fuel.

She said the issue was worsened by the activities of scoopers.

Her words, “The situation is however being brought under control by the Agege, Ikeja and Alausa Fire Crews of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service with the use of tactical Firefighting application of Chemical Foam Compound to suppress the Fire.

“The public is hereby assured that the situation is under control as the process of mopping up and evacuation of the remains of the Fire is ongoing. They should however exercise caution and restraint as outbound Lagos traffic has been diverted to travel with the inbound vehicular traffic.

“Unfortunately, a male adult was recovered suspected dead likewise three various brands of vehicles involved in the Fire aside the Tanker and Shops.”
