Osinbajo Appoints Senator Gaya To Head Campaign Team
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has appointed the senator representing Kano South in the National Assembly, Kabiru Gaya, to head his presidential campaign team.
This follows Senator Gaya’s disclosure that the vice president’s ambition is a call to serve the people of Nigeria, not for personal gain.
“For Professor Yemi Osinbajo, this race is not about personal ambition but about a positive response to populist call from a citizen-driven mobilization that began without input from him or his office,” he said.
Gaya, who has been in the senate since 2007 was a former governor of Kano State.
He confirmed the development during a press conference as he assumed duties as the director-general of the Osinbajo campaign, known as The Progressive Project.

He has led several Pro-Osinbajo groups including being a patron of the Osinbajo Volunteers Movement and said his duty will be to coordinate for victory the various groups pushing the Osinbajo candidacy as President Buhari’s successor.
He noted that his camp is confident to win the party’s ticket notwithstanding the mode of primaries the party employs.
He said, “What is most important is what the law says and the law of the country, as given by the Electoral Act states that there shall be direct, indirect primaries or consensus.
“Believe me, whichever of the three options is eventually chosen by APC’s experienced and forthright leadership, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will win! Much more than some people realize, a huge majority of party members and the electorate are with Osinbajo.”
